Our Approach

Workflow

• Images sent to PDI server
• Usually via VPN 
• Images can be sent directly from a digital modality or from a DICOM server
• Analog images require a high quality digitizer
• Appropriate comparison studies also sent
• Demographic and clinical information sent to PDI
• HL-7 interface or
• Fax
• PDI system directs case to interpreting pediatric radiologist 
• PDI radiologist interprets and signs final report 
• Phone contact with referring clinician, if needed
• Critical results communicated and documented
• Report sent to host facility
• Fax, Web Portal or HL-7 interface to host RIS
• Electronically signed report becomes part of medical record at client facility
• Billing
• In most instances, PDI bills host radiology group each month. Host group bills patient/insurance in a standard fashion
• Direct billing by PDI is an option
• Quality assurance
• PDI conducts random QA checks of reports
• ACR RADPEER
• Follow-up correlation of reports with operative results, when possible
